Signierte Fayencebildplatte – Dorotheenthal, dat.: „1725“

Maler: Johann Christoph Alex, ab 1716 in Dorotheentahl tätig, gest. 1736.

Höhe: 36,2 cm, Breite: 26,7 cm.

Grauer Scherben, weißgrau glasiert, bemalt in hellem und dunklem Blau.

Flache oktogonale Platte. Die Tafel wird durch einen horizontalen Streifen in ein oberes großes Bildfeld, das ca. 3/4 des Volumens der Platte ausmacht und ein kleines unteres Feld geteilt. Oberes Feld bemalt mit der Kreuzigung Christi und drei Figuren. Rechts die kniende Maria Magdalena, das Kreuz umfassend; links der Evangelist Johannes, Maria stützend. Im Hintergrund reiche Architekturlandschaft (von Mauern eingeschlossene Stadt mit vielen Türmen). Unteres Feld mit einer von C-Schwüngen begrenzten und von Palmetten umkränzten Kartusche. Darin die Schrift: „Jesus meine/Liebe ist gekreu/17 – tziget – 25“. Darunter in einem Queroval: „ALEX“.

Flat octagonal plate. The board is divided by a horizontal strip into an upper large image field, which makes up about 3/4 of the volume of the plate, and a small lower field. Upper field painted with the crucifixion of Christ and three figures. On the right, the kneeling Mary Magdalene, embracing the cross; on the left the evangelist Johannes, supporting Mary. In the background a rich architectural landscape (city enclosed by walls with many towers). Lower field with a cartouche bordered by C-curves and surrounded by palmettes. In it the script: „Jesus my / love is crossed / 17 – tziget – 25“. Below in a horizontal oval: „ALEX“.
